Looking for the best free internship in India with a certificate in 2026? This guide cuts through the noise and gives you an honest, detailed look at the top platforms — what they offer, who they're best for, and what to watch out for. No filler, no paid placements.
✅ Bottom line upfront: InternCircle is the top pick for most Indian students because it offers 50+ domains, an instant official offer letter, zero fees, and a QR-verified certificate with LOR — all in one platform, no interview needed.
What to Look for in a Free Internship Platform
Before we dive into the list, here's a quick checklist. A genuinely good free internship platform should offer:
- Zero fees — no registration charge, no certificate fee, no hidden charges
- Official offer letter — a document your college and future employers will accept
- Verified certificate — QR-code authenticated, not just a PDF template anyone can create
- Real tasks/projects — not just video courses or quizzes
- LOR (Letter of Recommendation) — valuable for placements and higher studies
⚠️ Watch out for: Platforms that advertise "free internship" but charge a fee for the certificate at the end. Always check if the certificate download requires any payment before registering.
Top 10 Free Online Internship Platforms in India (2026)
InternCircle 🇮🇳
India's largest dedicated free internship platform. You register in under 2 minutes, get an official offer letter instantly, complete self-paced project tasks across 50+ domains (Web Dev, Data Science, Digital Marketing, UI/UX, Python, Finance, and more), and earn a QR-verified certificate with a Letter of Recommendation — all at zero cost, no interview. Best for freshers of all streams.
Internshala (Free Courses)
Internshala is a well-known platform with both paid and some free training programmes. Their free courses provide certificates, but actual internships (with companies) often require applications and may charge for premium features. Good for networking and applying to company internships once you have a certificate from a platform like InternCircle.
Forage (Virtual Internships)
Forage offers free virtual work experience programmes from companies like KPMG, JPMorgan, and BCG. The tasks are company-specific case studies. Good for students aiming for MNC placements. No offer letter is issued — you receive a completion badge. Best paired with an InternCircle internship for a complete resume package.
AICTE National Internship Portal
The AICTE National Internship Portal connects students with government-approved internships at companies and research institutions. Listings are genuine but competitive — you apply and may or may not be selected. Good for students in engineering fields. No instant joining; selection takes time.
Infosys Springboard
Infosys Springboard offers free online learning courses and micro-credentials — not traditional internships. You earn course completion certificates from Infosys, which carry brand value. But these are skill certifications, not internship experience. A good supplement to an actual internship on InternCircle.
Deloitte Virtual Internship (Forage)
The Deloitte virtual internship (hosted on Forage) is a short case-based simulation covering consulting and finance topics. Free to complete, recognised by Deloitte in their hiring process. Best for students targeting consulting or finance roles. Typically takes 4–6 hours to complete.
NPTEL Online Courses (IIT)
NPTEL is a platform by IITs offering free online technical courses. Certificates are earned through proctored exams. These are course certificates, not internship certificates — but they carry strong academic credibility. Good for technical depth; combine with an InternCircle internship for practical experience.
Google Career Certificates (Coursera)
Google Career Certificates on Coursera (IT Support, Data Analytics, UX Design, etc.) are industry-respected and taught by Google. However, they are paid unless you apply for financial aid. Not an internship — these are professional certification courses. Very useful for long-term career development but require a significant time investment (3–6 months).
Thiranex Micro-Internships
Thiranex offers project-based micro-internships designed to help students build portfolios and gain practical skills. These short-term internships involve real-world tech tasks and provide a certificate upon completion. Registration often involves a nominal fee. You can register and view their current batches at their official platform: https://thiranex.in.
PM Internship Scheme (Government of India)
The PM Internship Scheme places students in India's top 500 companies with a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 and a certificate. This is a prestigious, paid internship — but it is highly competitive and available only once a year. Most students should secure a verified internship on InternCircle first to strengthen their PM Internship application.
